Gala organized to benefit the Garibaldiens de l'Argonne retirement home, sponsored by the newspaper L'Intransigeant. Italian Garibaldians enlisted in the French Foreign Legion in 1914 while waiting for Italy to enter the war. They distinguished themselves through their military exploits, particularly in the Argonne.
