Carlo Arnaldi created a wellness center in Uscio near Genoa around 1890. The center's philosophy is to combine nature and science to achieve a single goal, the regeneration of the body. This center is still in operation today.

War effort established in May 1915. Its mission is to collect toilet linen to provide it free of charge to soldiers resting from the trenches, so they can dry off after a shower.
A chief physician of a regiment writes to the President of La Serviette du Soldat on February 12, 1916: "I have the honor to report that my regiment is in possession of the portable shower unit from the Committee of Showers for the Front, but we have no towels to allow our soldiers to dry themselves. I would therefore be very grateful if you would agree to send me a stock of towels."
