In 1823, Berger produced an absinthe in Neufchâtel, Switzerland. The 1915 prohibition banned its production. In 1923, Berger converted by starting production of the first aniseed aperitif Berger in a factory in Marseille.
Berger joined the Marie Brizard group in 1995.
In 1878, Frédéric Berger established an absinthe distillery in Marseille. In 1915, the prohibition of absinthe forced Berger to diversify. In 1923, the first anise-flavored aperitif Berger Blanc was created.
