The Amandines de Provence from the H. Lalo biscuit factory were almond-shaped wafers filled with a refined-tasting fondant. In 1901, Biscuits Pernot bought the H. Lalo biscuit factory in L'Isle-sur-Sorgues. Pernot would continue to produce the flagship Lalo biscuit, the Amandine de Provence, under its own brand.
The Société Française des Nouvelles Galeries Réunies, founded in 1899, operated numerous department stores throughout France. This was the case with the Grandes Galeries Modernes in Agen, the Galeries Orléanaises in Orléans, and the Nouvelles Galeries in Nemours. This chain of stores joined the Galeries Lafayette Group in 1983. It is worth noting that the Galeries Orléanaises belonged to the Paris brothers in 1904.
The year 1931 marked a turning point in the iconographic history of Saint Raphaël with the appearance of the two café waiters in the brand's various creations. These two figures, also called the "Twins," were inspired by two actors: Armand Bernard and Paul Marien, or "Pauley" as he was known on stage: one is red, symbolizing Saint Raphaël Rouge, and the other is white, representing Saint Raphaël Ambré. They bring a unique soul and character to the brand.
