In 1832, Thomas Naltet and his wife, née Menand, took over a distillery in Chalon-sur-Saône. He had the idea of steeping sloes in aged spirits. It was in 1842 that Prunelle Naltet was born. It was packaged in a stoneware jug from La Dheune. The success was immediate. During the war, this jug was reused as a hot water bottle. Today, the sloe liqueur is still sold in gourmet shops.

A first maquette was made for sparkling wine. Then the bottle was replaced by a Cinzano bottle painted separately on a piece of paper and slightly glued on top.
The Enghien-les-Bains casino near Paris was established in 1901. It was converted into a military hospital in 1914 and resumed its operations in 1920.
