  • Founded in 1932 by Alexandre Aubaut and his son Eugène, the company Chaussures Pillot had 3 factories in Paris and the Paris region by 1935, but only 15 stores, 12 of which were in Paris. They bet on producing at the lowest possible cost using the most modern techniques, but neglected marketing.
    The factory in Paray near Orly was built in 1935 and became the flagship of the company. It had 5 assembly lines spread over 30,000 m2. All kinds of rubber-soled shoes were manufactured there: low-cost shoes, work shoes, sandals, sneakers, military boots, and fabric shoes for women. Overbuilt for the actual demand, it was shut down in 1938.

  • Gala organized to benefit the Garibaldiens de l'Argonne retirement home, sponsored by the newspaper L'Intransigeant. Italian Garibaldians enlisted in the French Foreign Legion in 1914 while waiting for Italy to enter the war.
