Tourism, real estate promotion
Dinard is a seaside resort in Brittany that developed from the late 19th century onwards.
In 1922, two architects planned to develop an ambitious seaside housing estate at Pointe de la Vicomté, at the mouth of the Rance. In 1928, construction began on a casino and a grand hotel. Plans were made for a shopping center, a landing stage, and villas. By 1929, the hotel, casino, and five tennis courts were completed. It was in this context that Cappiello created this poster project. However, the 1929 crisis put an end to this construction program.
Benjamin Bozon-Verduraz, World War I ace with 11 victories, took over his father's pasta factory in Saint-Étienne de Cuines, which produced Pâtes La Lune, after his father's death. The 1929 crisis severely impacted the company, and he lost control of it in 1932. He attempted to start a new business manufacturing and selling breakfast products, but it went bankrupt the following year.
For this poster project, Cappiello reused the one he had created for "Buvez du lait" (See black and white photo).
