  • In 1878, Frédéric Berger created an absinthe distillery in Marseille. In 1915, the prohibition of absinthe forced Berger to diversify. In 1923, the first aniseed aperitif Berger Blanc was born.
  • In 1823, Berger produced an absinthe in Neufchâtel, Switzerland. The 1915 prohibition banned its production. In 1923, Berger converted by starting production of the first aniseed aperitif Berger in a factory in Marseille. Berger joined the Marie Brizard group in 1995.
  • The Felix Eydoux soap factory was founded in 1855 in Marseille. It produced up to 50 tons of soap per day of exceptional quality. Made with the finest oils, it won numerous awards. To prevent counterfeiting, the soap featured on one side the Virgin Mary stepping on a snake and on the other the inscription: "Felix Eydoux, Marseille, Olive oil." The soap factory still exists today.
