The company Marnier-Lapostolle, founded in 1827, is a French business specialized in the production and marketing of wines and spirits, with Grand Marnier representing the majority of its activities.
Founded in 1882, the Premier Fils distillery in Romans sur Isère (Drôme) became one of the largest producers of absinthe. After it was banned in 1915, the distillery closed.
In 1923, Édouard Premier (1869-1927) relaunched the brand and created the pastis "Anis Premier".
